Cohmbia University EPIDEMIOLOGY College of Physicians and Surgeons INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE 632 WEST 168TH street, NEW YORK PUBLIC HEALTH ADMINISTRATION SANITARY SCIENCE INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC HEALTH April 17, 1931. APR 18 1931 Mr. H.H. Barker, United States Radium Corporation, 535 Pearl Street, New York City. Dear Mr. Barker: I have received the two ampules which you sent me, and have given one injection already. It may interest you to know that apparently we are beginning to get some indications of improvement and everyone around the place is much encouraged in what seemed to be a very hopeless case. The nurses all seem to feel that they are seeing some free movement of the limbs, and while we cannot expect to get any marked change so soon it is pleasing to know that some improvement has been noted by outsiders. I do know that the calcium out-go is increasing and that of course is a positive sign as to the effect of the radium. Mrs. Dunschott will be in town on the 24th and I will let you know what time she will be in my office for I am very anxious that you see her and note the improvement in her condition. It might be interesting if Dr. Craver had seen the case before and could talk with her now and check up on the change in her condition. She will be rather busy that day with X-ray tests and consultations and I presume will be wanting to get back to Waterbury that night, so I cannot tell how much time I will have with her but I will let you know as soon as I get definite information so you can run up for a minute or two and look her over. Sincerely yours, Finderch B Them Frederick B. Flinn Director Industrial Hygiene
