June 2nd,1930. Dr. James E. Ives, United States Public Health Service, Room 1-123, "C" Bldg., 16 Seventh St. S.W. Washington, D.C. Dear Dr. Ives: The United States Radium Corporation and the Radium Dial Company (Radium Luminous Corporation, Standard Chemical Company) have supplied the American watch manufacturers with practically all of the luminous material which they have used during the past 15 or 16 years, so far as we know. It is possible that small lots of material have been supplied by foreign menufacturers, but the amount of this material used I am sure has been small. There was a time when we used mesothorium together with radium in the manufacture of our luminous material, and those custom- ers to whom we sold during this period were aware of this fact. We cannot speak for the activities of our competitors along this line. Very truly yours, Vice President. HHBarker:&H
