Sept. 10th,1931. Dr. Herman Schlundt, University of Missouri, Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: Your letter of August 29th, has been received, and I wish to thank you for calling to my attention Dr. H. N. Cillette's name as a Metallurgist who might have been of assistance to us in the matter of a substitute for gold alloys. I must advise you that we had this metal analysed by reputable concerns here in New York, and it is my belief that the metal could be rather easily duplicated. The originator of the metal was so unreasonable in his demands that we ended all negotia- tions with him. The matter was largely one of merchandising with no particular advantage from a manufacturing standpoing, even though the metal possessed all the attributes which he claimed for it. We shall be interested to know the final reaction you get from Rolla as to their interest in the concentration of carnotite ores, and if we can be of any help to you in securing this please call upon us. I trust that your trip to Lafayette and Buffalo proved satisfactory, and presume that you are enjoying the pleasure of driving a new care at this time. With kind regards, I am Sincerely yours Vice President. HHBarker:RH
