Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Missouri,
Columbia,Mo.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
I am advised by Mr. Armstrong of the Redium
Extension Service, Chicago, Ill, that Elgin State Hospital are
willing to allow tests to be made upon the patients to whom
they have administered radium chloride internally. I understand
that they have followed out quite a definite and concrete plan
in this direction, and tests upon those whom have been given the
treatment should be of material value.
At the moment it is difficult for me to say
whether or not it is going to be convenient for me to conduct
these tests or assist in conducting them. I am wondering if
you or some of your advanced students would be interested in
undertaking this work.
With the general businesss conditions as they
are at the moment, we are avoiding all unnecessary expenditures
of money, and while we feel that this work is highly essential,
still we have 60 many demands upon our coffers that we are having
to curtail expenditures. Should occasion demand my being in
that territory for some other reason, I would be glad to devote
a few days to these tests - otherwise, I am afraid we will have
to pass them up.
Please let me know what your interest is in
this matter.
Sincerely yours,
Vice President.
