Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Missouri,
Columbia, No.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
During the past fow weeks I have had two or
three short visits with Dr. Miner. He tells me that he has
finally had some definite word from their principals in Paris
who have been taking the supply of mesothorium.
Apparently Dr. Niner wrote to one of his
personal friends associated with this organization to get the low-
down as to what was going on, and asking whether or not the
Welsbach Company should endeavor to dispose of their supply thru other
ohannels. Dr. Miner had a letter from his friend, which he showed
me, to the effect that he believed the Welsbach Company would be wise
to hold their supply, as he felt sure that the Paris concern would
be in a position to take two or three hundred milligeems during the
last few months of this year, and an additional amnunt early in
1933.
I am unable to get any idea as to what the material
is being used for, but I doubt very nuch if it is going into luminous
material.
Very truly yours,
Vice President.
