Dr. Herman Schlundt,
University of Hissouri,
Columbia, No.
Dear Dr. Schlundt:
I am herewith attaching a copy of a few notes which
I thought I would send in to the Amer. Journel of Roentgenology and Radium
Therapy, for publication.
It would be much appreciated if you would read this over
carefully, and if you have the time check my computations and advise me as to
your reaction regarding the suitability of this material for publication.
My reasons for preparing this brief article are largely on
account of our friend Dr. Martland, who is continuously talking before medical
societies, and insisting that the luminous material industry, as conducted even
today, presents such hazards that it should in his belief be abandoned. Be
also censures the administration of radon therapeutically for the same reasons,
for he believes that there is a hazard in the application of luminous material
As near as I can gather itit is his thought that the active deposit formed from
the decay of radon while in the system will eventually cause harm by the alpha
radiation emitted.
I am also prompted to publish a few notes along this line
upon the repeated request of Dr. Flinn for such information, as well as our
nutual friend Mr. VenWolkenten.
You will probably be surprised that I am sailing for London
tonight, and expect to return to New York on November 14,1932.
If there is any mission which I can preform for you mhile in
London, you can reach me at the Park Lane Hotel.
With kind regards, I an
Very truly yours,
Vice President.
