Gentlemen: On December 19, 1932, Rosenbaum & Mints, Attor- neys, of Newark, New Jersey, brought to our attention the fact that they had been retained by Mrs. Rita O'Dell, a former employee of ours, who claims she is suffering from radium poisoning. They stated their willingness to per- mit an examination of Mrs. O'Dell with the hope of effect- ing a settlement without entering suit. At the time this first communication came in we passed copies of the letter together with our reply on to Mr. Markley of Collins & Cor- bin and Mr. Smith of Edwards & Smith. Some correspondence has taken place until we have reached a point where we think it advisable for Rosenbaum & Mintz to deal directly with the attorneys since if an examination is to be made of the claimant they can direct such examination. Of course it may be this case is 80 far fetched that nothing will ever come of it. Our employment record shows Mrs. O'Dell started work for us August 1, 1917, but does not indicate the date of her leaving. Her attorneys, however, state that she was employed for a period of approximately tiro years. On January 17, 1933, Mr. Sidney H. Newman, an attorney of Jersey City, New Jersey, called to our atten- tion the case of Grace Shea, formerly Grace Seal. Wie handled this matter in exactly the same way as the cor- respondence from Rosenbaum & Mintz. Our records as re- gards Mrs. Shea are quite complete and show that she was employed October 24, 1918, and left in February, 1919. The employment card indicates that her principal duties were first "laying out" work, and on January 29, 1919,
