Dr. James Ewing,
c/o Memorial Hospital,
Central Park West at 106th St.,
New York City.
Dear Dr. Ewing:
In reply to your letter of May 16 we are glad
to herewith quote certain clauses from our contract with
the girls suffering from radium poisoning who are under
your care. These seem to be the only clauses that are
pertinent to the questions which you raise.
"1. That the party of the first part does hereby
agree to pay to the party of the second part the sum of
Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) per year, in equal quarterly
payments, (the first payment to be made on the 11th day of
September, 1928), for and during her natural life or until
such time as the Committee of Physicians hereinafter pro-
vided for, or any two of them, shall determine and report
that the said party of the second part is not suffering
from any disability due to radium poisoning, or to any of
the effects thereof."
"4. The party of the first part further agrees
to pay for such reasonable and ordinary future medical
treatment for the party of the second part as shall be
rendered necessary by reason of radium poisoning or the
effects thereof, which treatment and the amount to be paid
therefor shall be approved by the Committee of Physicians
hereinafter mentioned, or by a majority of such Committee."
"5. The party of the first part may, at its op-
tion, provide and pay for such extraordinary medical treat-
ments for the purpose of curing the party of the second
part, as may be determined by said Committee of Physicians
hereinafter provided for, or a majority of them, and the
party of the second part hereby agrees to take any such
