Jan. 4, 1935. Dr. Herman Schlundt, Room 110, New Chemistry Bldg., Columbia, Mo. Dear Dr. Schlundt: We have given careful consideration to the service which you have rendered in our behalf in the LaPorte case, and we feel that you should be paid for your services. In view of bills which we have received from others who testified, it would be quite in order for you to bill us $500. for Pro- fessional Services. I am, therefore, returning to you the expense account which you sent us with your letter of December 20th, and would suggest that you incorporate in one bill, your fee for services as well as expenses. In itemizing your bill for services, we would suggest that you show in some detail the amount of work which you put on this case, that is, regarding the amount of time you spent in New Jersey at both conferences and at the trial, as well as time spent in preparation at Columbia before coming to New York. Upon receipt of your corrected bill, we shall in due course honor same. The case was completed on Thursday, December 27th. Dr. Failla made a very excellent witness. As a matter of fact, it is our belief that due to his qualifications, he probably was one of the most valuable witnesses we had. Dr. Flinn showed up very well indeed, and upon reflection, we are very well pleased with the showing that all of our expert witnesses made. With best wishes for the current year, I am, Sincerely yours, HHBarker:DK Vice-President Enc.
