16 - Clean smocks will be provided weekly.
17 - Operators will be required to keep their hands and work-pleces scrupulously
clean at all times.
18 - Eating during working hours, and the presence of eating utensils or articles
of food in the workroom will be probibited.
19 - The workers will be required to thoroughly cleanse their hands and finger
nails before eating and at the close of work each day.
20 - Adequate general ventilation will be provided.
21 - The painting by hand will be done beneath a sheet of plate glass of suf-
ficient sise to cover all the radio-active material, and so placed that
the face of the worker is not less than 14° from the work.
22 - Inspectors of finished work will be provided with exhaust ventilation of
sufficient quantity to securo: an air movement of 100 to 200 linear
feet per minute at the surfece of the work being inspected; such movement
being away from the inspector.
23 - Dusting and transfer press work will be eliminated so far as possible, but
when performed, adequately safeguarded.
24 Periodie examinations, at least semi-annually, including electroscopic tests
(ganma ray and radon). & Blood exeminations of the employees will be made
by Dr. F.B. Flinn, Department of Industrial Hygiene, College of Physicians
andSurgeons, Columbia University. N.Y.City. The results of these examinations
will be communicated to the employees.
25 - The employees sill at all times be fully apprized of the possible hazards
connected with this work and the necessary precautions to avoid these hazards.
26 - Adequate facilities, separated and apart from the work shop, shell be pro-
vided where the girls may eat their lunch under pleasant surroundings, and
where they may go for periods of rest when necessary.
