Dear Mr. Roach: In accordance with discussion we have bad with you pertinent to our re-occupying our property at High & Alden Streets, Orange, N.J., we wish to herewith submit for your consideration certain date sug- gested by you. 1 - Photostatic copy of letter from Dr. Harrison s. Martland, Essex County Medical Examiner, relative to the hasards existing in the dial painting industry as conducted under present conditions and under such conditions as we propose. 2 - Photostatic copy of letter from Mg. C.M. Newnan, Chairmen, Industrial Committee of the City of Orange, N.J., suggesting that the City of Orange would welcome our occupancy of property at Bigh & Alden Streets. 3 - Specifications of the safeguards we propoae teking to safe- guard the health of our employees. The United States Radium Corporation has a subsidiary, namely the Weksler Thernometer Corporation, vhom they would liko to nove to Orange with their operations. The Radium Corporation has a payroll of 15-25, of whom about half are engaged in the handling of luminous material, including the application of luminous material to dials, etc. Tie do not enticipate at the moment that this number would be sibstantially increased over the next two or thrse years. The Neksler Thermometer Corporation has a payroll of approximately 25 at this time, and with the increased facilities of occupancy of a plent, it is hoped this chmblé would be increased to 100 within two or three ysars. We respectfully submit this information for your consideration and suggest that your Department concur with us in our contention that the application of luminous material to dials, etc., involves no more risk than is attendant with the average industrial occupation; and that therefore you are willing to give the Department's approval of our in- dustry.
