Announcement was made today that the La Salle County Farm Bureau has closed a deal for purchase of the Radium Dial factory building at the corner of Columbus and Washington Street. A contract for the purchase of the building was signed yesterday by members of the finance committee of the Farm Bureau, and sent to the main office of the Radium Dial Company in New York, for approval. Following the announcement that the building has been sold, R.L. Reed, manager of the Ottawa plant, said that the company's Ottawa plant will be moved to New York about January 1. The company may still maintain a small studio, office and working force here, Reed said, but the main plant will go to the east. 30 Employed at plant There are at the present time 30 young women employed at the Ottawa plant of the company, painting luminous dials for watches and clocks. The greater part of these employees are to be transferred to New York. The company for some time has had contracts for half a dozen eastern watch and clock companies, and has not been supplying materials to any western firms. Plans have been gradually going forward for & long time to move the Ottawa plant to the east. The consideration of the deal was not revealed today either by Farm Bureau executives or by Reed. The Farm Bureau plans to use the main floor of the building for offices, and to use the large auditorium on the second floor for meetings. FORMER O.H.S.
