Detroit, Mich.
Dear Dr. Stevens:
Vie have your letter of Octobor 11th and regret that we are not in
a position to undertake the changing over of your radium as desired.
In 1926 wo discontinued the sale of radium to Doctors and Hospitals
for therapeutic purposes, and consequently dismanteled our facilities
for re-tubing, servicing, etc.
About the only concorn in the United States, so far as we lonow,
who would be able to do this work for you is the Radium Chomical Company,
570 Lexington Avenue, New York City.
Our representative from Los Angeles was no doubt Kenneth B. Kirk,
a very fine friend of ours, and I understand a most enthusiastic Rotarian.
While Kirk is not directly connected with us, he has represented our con-
cern on the Coast for a number of years in the handling of radium luminous
compounds. Since he was not familiar with our lack of activity in the
radium olement field, he has been "guilty" of assuming that we could under-
take a job for which we do not have the facilities.
Trusting that you will be able to make the change=over in accordance
with your wishes, we are,
Very truly yours,
