Elitable Ele Jan. 21,1942. full Mr. C. W. Jacob, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass. Room 6306-C Dear Sir: We are in receipt of your request for 3/10 milligram high grade radium salt of approximately 90% purity. We can supply you with 3/10 milligram taken from our stock radium solution used in the com- pounding of radio-active luminous material. We run no purity checks on this material; however we buy it under the assumption that it is 90% or higher purity. The sample you received last May was taken from a similar solution, and we are at a loss to explain how it could contain an excessive amount of inert matter. Normally the only inert matter in this type material is barium bromide. If you are willing to take the material from our regular stock solution, we will be glad to furnish a 3/10 milligram ampoule at the former price of $15.00. Very truly yours, CWWalkhausen4k Chief Chemist
