Attention: Mr. Wallhausen
Dear Mr. Wallhausen:
Greetings! Although I have left New York, I am
still carrying on work for the U. S. Public Health Ser-
vice in connection with protection against radium dust.
In addition I am hoping, in cooperation with Dr. Downs
of the Biology Department here, to do some honest to
goodness research in connection with the metabolism of
radium, particularly as related to the deposition of
radium in the bones of experimental animals.
In this connection we will need about 2 milli-
grams of radium in the form of chloride which can be
fed to the animals or injected intravenously. When I
say 2 milligrams, I mean + or ", since it need not be
accurately measured before we get it. We will have to
divide it into the desired doses, each of which will
have to be measured.
I am wondering whether U. S. R. would care to sup-
ply us with this amount of radium and what the cost will
be. We should like to get it as soon as possible.
I would be much interested to know what the outcome
of your studies with Dr. Flynn and Dr. Hess have been in
connection with the relation between breath radon con-
centration and rate of exhalation.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely yours,
BrankE Holcker
