F-100 Super Sabrejet is 1st production fighter to break the sound bar
rier in straight and climbing flight--holds official world speed reco
set in Oct.1953 by AF LtCol.F.K. Everest when he raced over the fiftee
kilometer course at av.speed of 755 mph--it's powered by Pratt &hhitt
J-57 turbojet with after burner--capable of day intercept and bombing
missions as well as fighter duties
