CEANA,VIRGINIA: (Just off
theat of Eve May 1956
coast,USS FORRESTAL,plane carrier is used to
the landing and arrest techniques of var.Navy aircraft--We filed a cu
story on this but have no spotsheet for same--check film for accurate
scenes which include some of the folowing: !s ef the USS FORRESTAL at
sea--F4D -1 SKY RAY in catapult takeoff--A3D Douglas SKYWARRIOR coming
up on elevator,wings and tail folded,then spread wings and takeoff--
F11F Grumman TIGER taxi into catapult position--jet blast deflector
comes up--F8U-1 Chance/Vought CRUSADER which is new supersonic fightes
takes off--each making a touch and go landing--mirror landing system
in foreground (also used) -- S2F & S4D(unidentified by name)make arrest
