CEANA,VIRGINIA: (Just off
theat of 1956
coast, USS FORRESTAL,plane carrier is used to demonstrate
the landing and arrest techniques of var.Navy aircraft--We filed a cu
story on this but have no spotsheet for same--check film for accurate
scenes which include some of the folowing: !s ef the USS FORRESTAL at
sea--F4D -1 SKYRAY in catapult takeoff--A3D Douglas SKYWARRIOR coming
up on elevator,wings and tail folded, then spread wings and takeoff--
F11F Grumman TIGER taxi into catapult position--jet blast deflector
comes up--F8U-1 Chance/Vought CRUSADER which is new supersonic fighter
takes off=-each making a touch and go landing--mirror landing system
in foreground (also used)--S2F & S4D (unidentified by name)make arrest
