Waco, Texas
Turnout:
150 people (strong turnout by labor, TARAL, AARP)
Media:
CBS local affiliate camera
Waco Tribune-Herald
Local Weekly
In an area that has seen little organized activity on behalf of the HSA, the teleconference
energized local supporters - labor, seniors, women - to form a coalition group that will meet
weekly to discuss their strategies to move Rep. Edwards. While Edwards was not in attendance,
he was very anxious that the teleconference was taking place in his district, and released the
attached letter to many of his supporters. The letter contains some of Edwards' strongest, most
supportive language on universal coverage and health care reform.
Charlottesville, Virginia
Turnout:
95 - 100 people (Democratic activists, VA medical school faculty)
Media:
Charlottesville Daily Progress
Rep. Payne had planned to leave after he asked HRC his question, but he stayed for most of the
First Lady's Q&A. He seemed to enjoy the crowd and the event. Meeting energized good local
volunteers for future efforts.
