Dear Bruce:
I got a call today from Ruth Shalit, of the New Republic. Ruth
wanted to interview me for a big piece about Welfare Reform. I
don't particularly care one way or the other about doing this
interview but I would like to know, for future reference, what
the clearance process is for these calls.
Elaine- -
I don't mind your talking with the press about welfare reform
(although you-know-who might), but let me know who's asking
what and what you Fell them.
In general, it wold be safer for you to avoid these
calls until later this fall, when we can speak more clealy
about where we're going. It's easy to get tripped p on
this subject just ask David Ellwood + Dama Shalala.
