Please stand just as firm as\n1\nyou always have in protecting the programs and policies so important to the law\nThomas Freeman\nRegion 7\nenforcement community and public safety.\nPennsylvania\nJoe Bourgeois\nI would like to bring to your attention a matter of serious concern to the\nRegion 8\nLouisians-Arkensaa\n80,000 men and women of the International Union of Police Associations\nDonnie Rutledge\nRegion a\nwho put their lives on the line each day they go to work as law\nMississipphAlabama\nGeorgia-Florida\nenforcement officers to protect the public.\nDavid R. Spagnole\nRegion 10\nTennessee Kentucky\nWe strongly believe the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and State\nNorth Oarolina\nSouth Carolina\ncommitted an irreversible trend this week which will result in compromised\nRobert W. Mathieson\nsecurity to the public at large and grave danger to the man and women of\nRegion 11\nC\nof Dolumbie\nthe I.U.P.A. who protect the public.\nMaryland-Virginia\nWest Virginia\nU.S. Virgin Islands\nWe respectfully request that you take the lead in the full committee\nKelth Perrin\nRegion 12\nconsiderations of these appropriations to protect the law enforcement\nAlaska-Canada\nofficer at the street level. The current federal programs that direct funds to\nJohn D. Monarty\nRegion 12\nthe streets, where crime begins, is the only effective way to attack this\nConnecticut-Rhode Island\nDelaware-New Jersey\nincreasing burden on law abiding citizens. The creation of block grants as\nNew York\nthe source of funds for these critical crime prevention programs will only\nGary A. Ghileni\nRegion 14\nserve to turn the process of critical federal aid into an exercise of\nMaasachusetts-Vermont\nNew Hampshire-Maine\nmisdirected political expenditures. As a 30 year veteran police officer, I\nRichard Jacobson\nknow that the federal government must target the street level law\nRegion 15\nMontana+Idaho=Wyoming\nenforcement agencies as the recipients of the federal funds and not the state\nColorado\nand local decision makers."
