Child support accomplishments report, summarizing accomplishments on key child support initiatives since 1993 -- short stand alone document or possibly as update/enhancement to existing HHS fact sheet (Paul) 2. New child support numbers (Paul) -- a. Final FY 99 national and state-by state collections, including comparisons from 92 - 99, 96 - 99, and 98 99; b. Financial institutions data match = 897,000 hits, $3B (over what period?) C. NDNH hits from 10/98 - 3/00 = 3.5 M d. Passport denials = 30-40/day, 14,000 total, and at least $4 M volunatily reported by states (how does the $4 M correspond to the 14,000?) 3. Census analysis of CPS data on child support -- in HHS clearance (Linda will get us copy and check time frame) 4. State paternity numbers progress against goals laid out in PRWORA (Paul checking status and time frame) 5. Early Head Start Father Involvement - requst for application for $2 M in grants ready in a few weeks but contingent on FY 01 approps. (Linda will give us specs by end of week) 6. Early Head Start survey results - are these nuggets we can pull out to highlight promising trends and examples of promising practices? (Linda to explore) 7. HHS Fatherhood Fact Sheet - (Linda/Lisa working on update for Fathers Day. Ellen let's coordinate to make sure this is ready by middle of next week). 8. Education deliverables from HHS/Ed teleconference (Andrea to call Ed) 9. Interim process results from 8 OCSE Resp Fatherhood projects funded in late 97/early 98 - results still under development but are there lessons/best practices/stats we could pull out and highlight? (Paul/Linda to explore -- for example Illinoit paternity establishment project with WIC centers) 10. SAMHSA parenting is prevention program focus on father involvement in 4 sites (Linda to get more info) 11. Executive Action to direct HHS (and DOL?) to provide guidance to states/communities on how to use federal resources (TANF, WtW, WIA) to increase financial and emotional support/involvement among fathers and to remind states of flexibility they have to make child support obligations more appopropriate for low=income fathers (compromise arrearages, interest, modify orders). Build on NCSL report, TANF spending guide, HHS/DOL guidance no WtW. Could be done in Q&A form, though should be available other than just on the TANF website. 12. Commend Congressional attention to this issue and call on Congress to act on our budget proposals. 13. Update federal department actions in response to 1995 Exec Memorandum (Genie will contact other agencies) 14. Paternity leave/FMLA (Andrea to check w/ Ann O'Leary) 15. Check whether other fatherhood groups doing anything (Andrea to call Ken Canfield, NPCL; Margy calling Elaine Sorenson re: any new data: Andrea call Mott - grants for incarcerated fathers?) 16. Cite recent data on young fathers wanting to spend more time with families (Genie) 17. Cite recent McLanahan/Garfinkel data (Margy) 18. Cite MFIP findings?
