Monthly SSI benefits are jointly funded by the federal\ngovernment and each state. I don't have data on the eligibility\nrequirements for benefits administered solely by the state. Your state's\nDepartment of Social Services will. The Social Security Administration\nadministers another program called Social Security Disability Insurance,\n(SSDI) and some of the women in your program may receive this\ninsurance. There is no asset limit for this program, but there is an\nincome limit. The benefit is based on how long the recipient worked in a\nposition that earned him or her benefits credits. Refer to\nhttp://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10029.html for more information on SSDI.\nI second everything you said about the importance of a vehicle and a\ncomputer.\nThere is some work being done on permitting a vehicle to be an IDA goal in\ncertain cases. I will forward an email regarding what has been done. If\nparticipant is eligible for SSI, she is eligible for a PASS. If you can\nshow that the computer will be used towards work goal, such as\ntelecommuting, a PASS is the best option right now. If S2779 is passed,\nregulations may make it easier to save towards a car or a computer.\nThe World Institute on Disability is conducting research regarding IDA\nservice to people with disabilities.
