MAR. - 13' 98 (FRI) 13:30 P. 002 SOCIETY FOR NEUROSCIENCE 1 11 Dupont Circle, N.W. Suite 500 Washington, D.C. 20036 202-462-6688 www.sfn.org Memorandum DATE: March 13, 1998 TO: Nicole Rabner Associate Director for Domestic Policy FROM: Judith Hittman Director of Communications RE: Revised Remarks for Decade of the Brain Award CC: Patti Solis Doyle Nancy Beang T wanted to make you aware of the attached revisions to remarks by Dr. Shatz and Mendell for the awards ceremony. These remarks supersede the draft we sent to you earlier. I hope they are helpful 10 you in preparing the First Lady's comments. I also wanted to touch base with you regarding media coverage of the award presentation. I was wondering if the White House is issuing a press release on the award. If so, I would very much appreciate a copy. The Society would like to issue the attached release immediately as I believe Mrs. Clinton's distinction in the area of neuroscience would be of great interest to the national press. I understand that the Dana Alliance is working with you on press, so I don't want to duplicate efforts. Please let me know your thoughts on the draft release. You can reach me by phone (202- 462-6688), fax (202-462-9740) or e-mail ([email protected]). Many thanks for all of your help, Nicole, and I look forward to hearing from you.
