He's a member of the Black Community's Crusade for Children and serves on its\nSteering Committee. He's a member of the Advisory Committee of the Greater Kansas City\nCommunity Foundation and Affiliated Trusts.\nMr. Crompton is frequently asked to give testimony on child-care legislation pending before local,\nstate and federal government legislative bodies.\nMr. Crompton has an active track record of community service. He is a member of the education\ncommittee of the Greater Kansas City Civic Council. He is secretary of the Rehabilitation Loan\nCorporation of Kansas City and formerly served as its chairman. He is past president and past\ntreasurcr of the Board of Curators Lincoln University. Most recently, Mr. Crompton gave the\nFounders' Day address for the 126th anniversary of the founding of Lincoln University.\nIn recognition of his professional accomplishments and community service, Mr. Crompton is\nrecipient of many awards, including the Distinguished Alumni Award (1986) of the Lincoln\nUniversity Alumni Association, the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus Jordan-McNeal Award\n(1987) for outstanding community service and a Distinguished Alumni Citation (1988) from the\nNational Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education in Washington, D.C., and the\nKansas City Urban League's Image Award for Economic Development (1990).\nMr. Crompton was recipient of the Up and Comers Award (1994) and has been listed among the\n100 Most Influential African Americans in Kansas City by the Kansas City Globe newspaper for\nfour consecutive years since 1992. In 1995, he was awarded the Children's Defense Fund\nInnovative Leadership Award.\nMr. Crompton credits his desire to excel and to contribute to his community to his parents, the\nlate James N. Crompton, Sr., and Mrs. Eleanor Crompton Rucker, who instilled in him principles\nof love for God and his fellowman.\nHe is a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and has been a member of the Mt. Pleasant\nTrustce Board for ten years, serving eight of those years as Trustee Board chairperson.\nMr. Crompton is married to the former Miss Elfredia M. Witt. They are parents of two sons,\nAnthony and Shannon."
