Dear Mrs. Clinton;
Last evening, Dec. 7 1994, my son, Samuel "Blake" Sellards, was in the audience for the Lighting
of the National Christmas tree. He was selected to go and sit in the box with you and the
President. He was the child in front of you (you had your arms around his shoulders) when
Chelsea pushed the button. I just want to tell you what an honor it was for Blake and our whole
family. We have never before experienced such and honor. Blake's siblings, Sean Sellards and
Regina Clark and myself were in the audience. My husband was unable to attend because he was
working late. My husband did record the last half of the show on C-SPAN. We called family in
Kentucky, Connecticut, and Virginia to tell them to watch the nightly news. My mother, Blake's
grandmother, phoned from Kentucky to let us know that she had seen Blake on CNN. This is so
exciting for us. We are a "blended" family of only two years and we have no other family in this
area. I'm sure this is something that we will never forget and Blake will grow up to tell his
grandchildren. A co-worker of mine said that since President Clinton met President Kennedy at a
young age and then grew up to become President that perhaps now Blake would grow up to
become President. How wonderful that would be!
I'm sure you can understand how excited I am just from the way this letter seems to babble.
I want you and President Clinton to know how much we appreciate the way that your family tries
to be more accessible to-the public.
Again I thank you and your family for a wonderful Christmas memory.
