Dear Mrs. Clinton:
I am thrilled that you have agreed to keynote the grand opening of
Covenant House California's new shelter.
I sincerely hope you are not upset with my letter. I did not mean
any disrespect. When putting the letter together with my assistant, I
mentioned the last sentence in my "Whoopi" words, qualifying my
meaning but not intending those actual words to be written. Had I
proofread the letter, I would have caught my own mistake. Please,
accept my apology. I wanted to get your attention but in a more
polite manner.
I look forward to seeing you on May 7, May 8 and May 30.
My love to all!

Dear Mrs. Clinton:
I was very happy to learn from Sister Mary Rose McGready that you
have been invited to keynote the grand opening of Covenant House
California's new shelter and transitional living program on May 30,
1996.
Last November, I spent a wonderful afternoon at Covenant House
California, visiting with the kids and staff and learning more about
their program. As I think you know, they do incredible work and
the new shelter will allow Covenant House California to expand their
greatly needed services.
Your presence at the grand opening in May will give the event
special meaning, so, I guess what I'm really saying is, you better
come bitch!
My love to all!

ADMINISTRATIVE MARKING

INITIALS: SOB DATE: 11/7/13
3 Tb flour
Quick is the concept here so that the soup is
made before the debate starts, Saute the onions
for 3 min.; add salt and sugar; sprinkle on the
flour, toss the onions- 5 min max
2 cans chicken broth
I used Campbells
2 cans water
Bring everything to a slow boil; the broth will
begin to thicken.
1 pound out of the garden baby butterbeans
Add to the soup
use frozen if nec.
Cook soup until the butterbeans are done- must not
take too long since the soup was served before the
debate and acclaimed by all. We had French bread
rounds grilled on top of the stove and fresh par-
mesan and ground pepper
Since the debate was very important, I wanted to have something special for
dinner. "Soupe a l'oignon " is a family favorite, but I saw that I didN't have
the time. When I started to improvise, I decided to throw in the butterbeans
another favrite food. Hope you will make it and taste it to see how distinctive
it is.
Now I'm thinking about all the delicious food we've enjoyed over the years at
your Christmas party especially a banana pudding in the French style. We saw
the inside the White House special- incredible.

Dear Mr. President,
First, let me congratulate you again on the
overwhelming victory you had in November. I
believe God gave you extra stamina and wisdom.
I am overwhelmed at your invitation to participate
in your inauguration. Since I led the prayer four
years ago, I never dreamed you would ask me again.
I am highly honored to accept and will look
forward to participating.
I most certainly will bring my son Franklin to
Washington with me, which will be the highest
honor he has ever received. He deeply appreciates
your courtesies to him on several occasions.
Since my Parkinson's Disease often trips me up, I
will appreciate the guidance and help of members
of your staff or the military. I am sure there
will be a member of your staff who will be
assigned as liaison to work with my secretary
(Stephanie Wills) in keeping up with all the
arrangements.
I have read about your throat and have great
sympathy for you because I have endured those
incidents myself.
Please tell Hillary that I am looking forward with
great anticipation to seeing her again. May God
bless you both and give you the most wonderful
Christmas you have ever had.
Cordially yours,
Billy

Dear Ann:
Anna Wintour, Ralph Lauren and I want to express our heartfelt thanks to you for serving on the
Super Sale Gala Dinner Committee for the benefit of the Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer
Research at Georgetown University.
By every measure, this year's Super Sale was a landmark achievment! We're pleased to report
that our goal to raise one million dollars has become a reality; the total so far is 1.5 million and
we are still counting. We expect to have final figures soon, but we can safely say we are well
over the top, making this event one of the most successful in the city's history.
We are all truly grateful for your generosity. We couldn't have done it without you. Because of
your support, the Center will be able to continue its efforts to find a cure for this deadly disease.
Sincerely,

Dear Elly:
Thank you for your letter and congratulations on your

Dear Hillary:
Alas! I'm enclosing a part of an invitation, marked in yellow ink, with the
hope that someone will show it to you so you will know that our hearts are
at River Hoiuse, though physically we have to be at the H Hilton. I wanted
you to know how truly sad Randy and I are that we can't be with you this
evening. I will be accepting an award and he will, poor Randy!, be
listening to me at the Hilton at the very moment you will be arriving at
River House. I was so looking forward to seeing you- it's been much too
long, at least by my standards! Unfortunately your time was changed. from
fiv e to eight o'clock. If you get bored with River House, do stop by the
Hilton and say "hello"- and please don't take that last seriously!. I know
how impossible that would be, but wow! wouldn't the Partnership for the
Homeless audience go crazy!! Well,
Perhaps in five years from now we can recapture our friend for an informal
neighborhood dinner. Meanwhile I'm thrilled, and not surprised by the
polls. I know the New York women are going to turn out en masse on
Tuesday, because we all admire- and love- our First Lady so much 11.
I'm hoping that you won't forget us, and that you will be with us again on
December 4th, for the FIFTH Star Breakfast- bigger-- and, if you're there,
better --than ever. I'll pursue your schedule office right after election, and

Mrs. Hillary Rodham Clinton
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear Hillary,
I hope you will excuse my addressing you by your first name but that is how I remember
you. Back in 1974, when you were Hillary Rodham and I was Liz Dunigan, we worked
together on the House Judiciary Committee Impeachment Inquiry Staff. I was a Research
Assistant working on the Library Staff with Maureen Barden. Those were very intense
months that we all worked together, ate together and missed alot of sleep together! I
remember working with you assembling the famous evidence notebooks and chatting with
you in your office with the desk by the window. We were all so young and so committed
to doing the very best job we could on such a historic undertaking. I'm sure your're as
proud as I am to have been a part of that process.
I've been meaning to write to you since you and the President came to Washington. I
always thought it would be neighborly to invite you and your husband to a small dinner
party at our home. We would love for you (and Chelsea) to come but understand that
you're rather busy right now. Maybe after your re-election!
The impetus for my writing occurred when my daughter Katie and I met President.
Clinton at Army Navy Country Club on Monday, August 5. Katie had just finished
playing tennis and Mr. Clinton was approaching the 10th hole. He graciously stopped to
visit with the onlookers and we introduced ourselves. I mentioned that I had worked with
you and had been meaning to write to you for 3 years. He said I should write and Katie
said I should do what the President tells me to do. Your husband was also kind enough to
have his photographer take a picture of him with Katie and I have requested that the
White House Photo Editor send us a copy.
I have followed with great interest your career as an attorney, First Lady and, most
importantly, wife and mother. I applaud you for standing up for your beliefs and for
dealing with issues in an honest and forthright manner. I supported your efforts to reform
the Health Care system in this country and your efforts on behalf of children. You have
been a fabulous First Lady - a wonderful role model for your contemporaries and for our
daughters. I hope you will continue in that role for 4 more years!
In regard to my life since the Impeachment Staff closed its doors in the Fall of 1974, I
worked at the Justice Department and then at the State Department. I married Richard,
now an attorney with the Navy Department's General Counsel's Office, in 1982. I
returned to work after our first child was born but stopped working outside the home after
the birth of twins two years later. Our children, Richard, 13 and Katie and Patrick, 11,
keep me busy now. I have served as PTA President at our elementary school and now
serve on the PTA Boards at both the elementary and middle schools. In addition, I teach
religion at our Church and generally try to keep one step ahead of things as the teenage
years approach for our twins. I am happy for the experience I gained and the people I met
at my various jobs, but I am thankful that I have been able to stay home with our children
during their formative years. The things we have sacrificed have been more than
compensated for by watching our children grow into happy, well-adjusted and motivated
adolescents. I don't bake cookies very often (couldn't resist!) but I consider myself very
fortunate to have the time to do so when I please.
In closing, I would like to wish the best to you and the President as the election
approaches. I feel the country would benefit greatly from 4 more years of the Clintons
and I hope a majority of voters feel the same. I would love to hear from you if you have
the time. Good luck in all your future endeavors.
Sincerely,
Sig Danigon Hollwan

Dear Hillary,
I can't thank you enough for the beautiful breakfast you gave for the Nina Hyde
Breast Cancer Research Center. You gave pleasure to everyone there. Many, if not most
of them, had never been to The White House before and were thrilled. It increased the
visibility of the benefit greatly.
I realize that you took great trouble to give this event and that you had to wedge it
in before you left for your campaign commitment in Connecticut. I knew you were
leaving. So did Princess Diana, who had moved up her arrival a day to be there. After
your departure, we simply moved over a little and it was not a problem.
To receive 120 people for a seated breakfast is a great effort. It was very much
appreciated.
Affectionately,

The White House
Dear Mrs. Clinton,
It was a great pleasure to meet you on the snowy Sunday night of January 7. The snow
was dreamlike in its dimensions, and our discussion of the prospects for American
democracy was illuminating. In short, it was an altogether wonderful evening, and I
thank you and the President for it.
I have since read your book, It Takes a Village. In it, you provide a succinct answer to the
question that you and the President posed at our dinner: What is wrong with Gingrich's
vision of minimizing government so as to maximize personal initiative? Your discussion
on pp. 312-313 is precisely to the point.
Among the many things that resonated with me in your book was your sense of Nelson
Mandela's humane and democratic ability to put the legacy of apartheid behind in her
persona as well as his politics. I had precisely the same reaction to Mandela, with whom I
met shortly after he was released from prison, having been given the (undeserved) honor
of speaking back to back with him about democratizing education in post-apartheid
South Africa.
I hope that you would be willing to sign a copy of your book (which I enclose) for my 15-
year old daughter, Abigail. She is eager to read it, and would be delighted to have your
autograph!
With best wishes,
