I represent a child welfare agency, ChildServ, which recently celebrated its 100th
anniversary of helping children to build better lives. Next year we would like to sponsor a
symposium on issues most urgent to children and we would like to extend an invitation to
Mrs. Clinton to serve as our keynote speaker.
Mrs. Clinton's interest in the well-being of children along with her interest in
HIPPY (Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters) makes her an excellent
choice for our program. Mrs. Clinton, as I am sure you know, was very instrumental in
introducing the HIPPY program in the United States when she resided in Little Rock.
ChildServ was the first organization to develop the HIPPY program in Chicago and our
success rate has been phenomenal.
The president of our agency, Mr. James C. Jones and I, along with other staff will
attend the upcoming conference sponsored by the Child Welfare League of America in
Washington, March 1-3. I have contacted Ms. Verveer, at the request of Mr. James Parks,
AFL-CIO, and have a tentative appointment on March 1, when I arrive in the district. In
another conversation with Mr. Darren Peters, Democratic National Committee, he
suggested that I contact you directly with my request to be considered for Mrs. Clinton's
schedule in 1996. We would, naturally, plan our event according to her schedule and
availability to be in Chicago. If there is a possibility of having the First Lady as a speaker,
would you please give me the details for arrangements, etc.

It is with much enthusiasm that I forward this letter to you. Just after the '92
election, I sent a letter to Mrs. Clinton inviting her to serve on my board of
directors for a teen outreach facility based in upstate New York, and I
was thrilled to receive a hand-written response from her (please see
CHALLENG
attached)! A few months later, once settled in the White House, I

Clinton's reply was brief, it reassured me that she was very real and
dedicated to the American cause and the ideas of the American people
who elected them.
The above mentioned facility is still in the works, however, my focus has
shifted. As you will gather from my attached resume, my range of exper-
ience varies from the classroom to the board room and practically every-
where in between! The purpose of this letter is to indicate my interest in
becoming an integral part of the Clinton agenda. I realize that my
exposure, as vast as it may seem, does not include the political arena,
however, I strongly feel that my ability to communicate with people on all
levels has opened many doors for me, and has been proven successful in
every position listed.
My intense desire to work with you and your team stems from a very
strong and positive relationship with one of the most effective educators I
have ever encountered-my mother. Connie Lawrence taught in our
hometown for 35 years and, in 1989, was selected as a Top 10 Finalist for
New York State Teacher of the Year. Perhaps my connection to Mrs.
Clinton's beliefs and goals is a result of all that she has in common with
Connie it is very rare in this world to meet someone who truly practices
what they preach. I see this intensity in Mrs. Clinton much like I did in my
mom and, since her untimely death in 1991 at the age of 58, I have a
desire to "keep the torch burning," so to speak. By becoming an integral
part of your team I will dedicate my time, energy and ability to effect all
types of people to the achievement of the goals for America and its
children.
I find myself becoming increasingly more frustrated with the current state
of affairs, especially as they relate to the institution of education in this
country. As a former Special Education teacher, I often ask myself why, if
I love children as much as I do, and if I am as effective as parents and
administrators report, am I no longer in the classroom? As I reflect on this
question, the answer becomes increasingly more obvious---I am no longer
in the classroom because if issues such as abuse, neglect, drug and gang
violence, AIDS, etc., etc. continue to force our children to live in fear,
education needs to begin with society and work its way into the
classroom. In my opinion, Maggie, this is not happening and I am
compelled to position myself in an arena where I can effect and change
the way society views and deals with the education and rights of
American children.
Thus, my request to become a member of your team. I have been
impressed and intrigued by Mrs. Clinton's zeal and focus since she rocked
the Arkansas educational system. and I am still a die-hard advocate of
her policies concerning children, education, and the rights of women
around the world. Imagine, if you will with visions of Mrs. Clinton
"chewing them up and spitting them out," I eagerly watched her address
Congress during the Health Care debate, and most recently, the audi-
ence at the Women's Conference in China, with as much enthusiasm as
a fanatic disciple of the Superbowl!! I even waited 3 hours in line at
Cornell University in November of 1993 to hear her Report to the American
People (I was however, able to charm my way through the hoards of
students and local intellectuals all the way up to the fourth row-that's
gotta count for something?!).
I am sickened by the GOP's desire to trash the Clinton White House and I
will stand firm on my belief that for the first time in U.S. history, we are
fortunate to have been graced with two highly intelligent and gifted
individuals, both of whom share the same vision and display the uncanny
ability to communicate their dedication to the overall good of the
American people. As you encounter the current challenges of
Whitewater and "Travelgate," I believe that the fresh perspective and
strong commitment to your cause that I could bring to the table would
only enhance the existing goals for the '96 election.
I have recently begun to do business in Washington and 1 plan to
continue to nurture this client base by returning as often as possible. My
responsibilities in the nation's Capitol involve the representation of my
company's Preservation Microfilming services.
As of this date, my company will be working with printed materials and
archives from The U.S. Memorial Holocause Museum, The Library of
Congress, and tentatively with The National Archives. I hope you'll
consider my ability to obtain contracts with the above institutions as an
endorsement for my sales ability and personal presentation. I am also in
the process of pursuing a patent for an invention which will assist persons
with disabilities.
I would be honored and overwhelmed to be allowed an opportunity to
meet with you in person to convince you of my capabilities and profound
commitment. 1 have provided you with all of the pertinent information
with which to contact me and I look forward to meeting you in the very
