J. understand House and Garden TV will again be doing a segment on ornaments for the Blue Room Tree. I know it would be great to find the ornament and match it with the artist - but Nancy and I both spoke about it and it would be very difficult since we are not sure if we can find the older ornaments to match with the artist. And, so many of these have been destroyed by the Archives due to moth infestion - we don't want that publicized! I think it would be great if HGTV chose some artists from the following list of people, contacted them and told them of our Holiday Reflections theme and how Mrs. Clinton wishes to pay tribute to the thousands of artists who have made contributions to the White House. I would suggest that they ask the artists if it would be possible to recreate an ornament similar to the one they had done in their respective year - or to create another one for the 2000 tree in commemoration of the Holiday Reflections theme. HGTV could film them making it and perhaps we could invite them to come back for the Press Preview and have them hang it on the tree. Here is a list of some past artists: 93.500g 1994 - Twelve Days of Christmas Theme Decorative Painters Rosemary Thigpen, Jacksonville, FL 904-359-7697 in spearheaded She made a beautiful wooden partridge in a pear tree. 1995 - 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and All Through the House (I will get the following architect's numbers for you) Architects Mr. W. Cusick, Shrewsbury, NJ The ornament's exterior was created to evoke imagery of the traditional American home during the holiday season. When the ornament opens the opening scenes depicted in the theme poem are revealed: "Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care..." Mr. Warren A. Austin Arlington, Texas Front side of ornament is a house façade with a small Christmas wreath on a second floor window. The backside reveals an interior of a stud wall with exposed wood studs chewed out by a tiny mouse asleep on his bed of wood shavings. 1996 The Nutcracker Wood Artists 916-756-3938 John Natsoulas Callery Mr. Rene Megroz, Laguna Beach, CA 714-494-5954 Debbie He made a beautiful pair of wooden ballet slippers - they appeared on the cover of the 1996 Holiday Brochure. Congratulations on being a of a new team at the White House. It was a pleasure chatting with you on the phone today. It sounds like working on HGTV's "The White House Christmas" with you will be fun! I just wanted to recap what we discussed during our conversation today: When will Gary be visiting the tree farm from which the Blue Room Christmas Tree will come this year? Can we shoot his visit to the tree farm? Can we also shoot when they cut the tree down? ]-traveling] Can we send a videographer to shoot Nancy as she holds one of her planning meetings for the White House decorations this year? = DOLA Can we also come and shoot as Roland makes and freezes cookie dough and/or fruitcake for the holiday parties? In keeping with last year's schedule, we'd like to shoot for eight straight days, with the eighth day being the Press Preview day. I know that is tentatively booked for December 4, therefore we'd like to begin shooting on Monday, December 27. We'd like to have 3 crew members each day of shooting (that number includes me, the producer) plus a fourth person (our talent) 646 528 646X on the day of the Press Preview.
