I wish I could join you in person tonight to celebrate the life of an\nextraordinary American citizen, Ralph Lauren.\nMost people know how good Ralph makes us look on the outside. What many people\ndon't know are the countless things he does to make us feel good on the inside as well.\nJust think about all that he's done to fight the tragedy of breast cancer.\nLike so many others, he grieved at the loss of Nina Hyde, who was diagnosed and\nultimately died of breast cancer. Determined to honor her memory, and help others fight this\nterrible disease, Ralph founded the Nina Hyde Center For Breast Cancer Research and\nTreatment at Georgetown University and the CFDA's Fashion Targets Breast Cancer initiative.\nBut that's not all.\nToday, young people go to college through the Jackie Robinson Foundation Film\nstudents at Columbia University get their projects funded AIDS patients get treatments\nthrough AmFAR clinical trials. All because of Ralph Lauren.\nWe are indebted to him for his generosity and his compassion. Ralph Lauren is a true\nhumanitarian, and I join you in saluting him tonight."
