(MULTI) CARBON_COPY TEXT_BODY Wendy -- can I appeal to your vast knowledge and expertise for a second? Domestic folks sent me some langage to add to the human rights fact sheet, which was not really in English, SO I had to rewrite and fear that accuracy might have suffered in the process. Here's what I have -- can you tell me if it sounds ok? Thanks The Clinton Administration reauthorized (is that the correct verb? did we do something else, like pass it?) the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). WAVA reauthorization builds on VAWA's success in combating domestic violence by: reauthorizing key grant programs, which assist law enforcement efforts and support victims' services, through Fiscal Year 2005; expanding the investigation and prosecution of crimes of violence against women; and continuing to fund the National Domestic Violence hotline, which has already received more than 530,000 calls. Reauthorization also provides critical new protections for battered immigrants, addresses the high rate of dating violence and provides additional resources for Native Americans who are victims of domestic violence.
