Purpose
Express sympathy to President Chirac and the French people on
the death of three French officials in Kosovo.
Background
On December 14, three French officials assigned to the French
embassy in Belgrade tragically died in an automobile accident
while traveling on a Kosovo highway. The accident was an
ordinary highway mishap unconnected to the conflict.
Your letter to President Chirac expresses sympathy to the
families of the deceased, and to the French nation as a whole
for this loss. It speaks of the painful personal cost of
diplomatic engagement in troubled areas.
