Celebration of the establishment of Title IV of the Americans
With Disabilities Act.

Additionally, TDI works directly with government and industry
to assess visual telecommunications needs, foster the

development of advance telecommunications devices, and improve
access to new technologies and services. TDI has played a key
role in mandating emergency telephone accessibility for TTY
users in the ADA and currently leads the cooperative effort to
assure compliance with these critical regulations.
TDI publishes a comprehensive director of Text Telephone
users. "Text Telephone" is the term adopted by the FCC to
designate existing telecommunications devices for the deaf--
TDDs/TTYs and computers equipped with telephone modems linking
users to electronic databases, electronic mail and information
services. TDI's annual directory is used by the nearly half a
million TTY users.
Although we realize that your busy schedule may preclude you
from being with us on July 26, we hope you will still be
