Congressman Gary Ackerman
Last week I spoke with Congressman Ackerman (718-969-9291) who
urgently requested that the President agree to attend a
fundraiser for him. His relatively new district is half in
Queens and runs through Nassau into Suffolk County. His last
race his opponent got 45% and he got 52%.
He has had a tough time fundraising. He spent $1 million in
1992, $1.4 million in 1994 and expects to spend $1.5 million this
year.
He claims that he has supported the Administration virtually down
the line.
I told him that I thought it was extraordinarily remote that the
President would do a fundraiser, but I would have someone get
back to him.
