Congressman Pete Peterson - possible Ambassador to
Vietnam
On 6 March I spoke with Ken Kline, the Chief of Staff to Senator
Graham of Florida, who urged very strongly that Congressman Pete
Peterson be nominated as the Ambassador to Vietnam. He pointed
out that he was very popular in Florida, a former Vietnam era
POW. Kline said that Peterson probably will not push himself or
campaign for the position, but he underscored that it would be a
good move for the Administration were Peterson to receive the
nomination.
