CLINTON ADMINISTRATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR AFRICAN-AMERICANS
In just 23 months, President Clinton's Administration created
5.6 million new jobs for American workers, 92 percent of which
are in the private sector.
Thanks to President Clinton's expansion of Earned Income Tax
Credit, 15 million low income workers received a tax cut so that
no child with working parents will grow up in poverty.
Fifty-nine percent of all presidential nominees to the federal
bench have been women and minorities.
The Justice Department has prosecuted 34 racial violence cases,
charging 59 defendants since President Clinton took office.
The Clinton Administration argued in federal court to expand the
interpretation of the Voting Rights Act.
President Clinton's crime bill authorizes 100,000 new police
officers and community policing efforts.
The Justice Department Civil Rights Division filed a record 140
cases last year to enforce fair housing laws, a 35 percent
increase from the number of cases filed in 1992.
The Clinton Administration ordered a Mississippi bank that
denied loans on the basis of race to implement a lending plan
for minority customers.
The Labor Department collected over $34.5 million in back pay
and other financial remedies for discrimination victims, an
increase of 12 percent over from the year before.
President Clinton signed a comprehensive child immunization
plan, which includes a 96 percent increase in funding SO that

without losing their job.
The Clinton Administration created the Historically Black
College and University Capital Financing Program, which provides
federally guaranteed bond financing for buildings and repairing
facilities at historically black colleges and universities.
President Clinton created the Office of Minority Health Research
and Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health to
ensure that medical research addresses minority health problems.
