Additional Facts For The Judges Packet
Attached is an information packet on the number of pending cases in federal courts with
judicial vacancies. As of June 30, 1997 (the most recent data available), there were almost
180,000 pending cases in courts with vacancies - over 25,000 criminal cases and over 150,000
civil cases.
Because these numbers help provide a real life context to the President's call for the
Senate to act on his judicial nominees, I plan to add them to the judges material we distribute
