TASK FORCE ALERT
1) Special Events/Lobby Corps meeting changed from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
2) House VAWA Reauthorization Mark-Up
3) Status of Senate VAWA bill
MEETING CHANGE
For D.C.-based groups, the Special Events/Lobby Corps meeting scheduled for
Friday, June 23, 2000 HAS BEEN MOVED TO 3:00 PM. The meeting will still be
held at the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence - 1532 16th Street
NW, (202) 745-1211.

VAWA REAUTHORIZATION UPDATE
The House Judiciary Committee met yesterday, June 21st, to begin marking up
the VAWA Reauthorization Bill, H.R. 1248. Numerous amendments were passed
by the committee and a summary by the National Network to End Domestic
Violence is included below. The Committee did not finish the mark-up and
will continue its work on Tuesday of next week. We expect the Democrats on
the Judiciary Committee to offer up several additional amendments at that
time, but it is uncertain whether these amendments will pass.
Congratulations and thanks to everyone for your hard work on this
legislation. Our next step will be to get this bill to the floor for a vote
by the House!!
