Judy Smith, 913/ 872-3234, Muscotah, KS Son is
going to school in Missouri. They are in a Kansas
disaster county and wanted to get son in the
work/study assistance program associated w/ $8+
million funding allocated to the 9-Flood States.
University at which the son is attending (St Louis,
MO area) indicated parents needed a FEMA
application or other materials(really not sure what
was needed). Additionally, school said most of the
funds (98%) for the specified activity were
allocated ... TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. Referred
call to Dept of Education, Bob Coates has the
specifics and said he would call Judy and provide
answers. -jfw- RE contacted Mrs. Smith 12-03-93.
Mr. Coates had returned her call immediately. He
provided contact telephone numbers and answered her
questions. Paperwork is in process. Very
appreciative of the response. In her follow up
with school, the financial office indicated they
had not actively the grant monies. concerned non-
qualified students would be applying for this
program.
