PURPOSE: This should be the first step in a media strategy to inform the community of our ongoing policy developments and counter negative misinformation circulating throughout South Florida regarding our Cuba policy. BACKGROUND: In order for the administration to gain the Cuban community's support, it is essential for the President to counter the negative misinformation circulating throughout the Cuban community. The President should speak directly to this constituency about his policy towards Cuba. Telemundo and Univision are the leading Hispanic networks in the country. PREVIOUS PARTICIPATION: Both local affiliates participated in Florida Media Day at the White House regarding the base closings in 1993. DATE & TIME: As soon as possible.
