December 1, 1995 Marsha Scott The White House Washington, DC 20500 NAPWA Dear Ms. Scott: NATIONAL I am writing to thank you for the support you have provided to the National Association of People with AIDS (NAPWA) during the past year and to share with ASSOCIATION you a copy of our 1995 Community Report. As you are aware, NAPWA is the national voice for the more than one million Americans living with HIV and AIDS. OF PEOPLE WITH AIDS This report provides you and the people we serve with an update on our activities throughout the 1995 fiscal year ending September 30, 1995. I am hopeful that you will gain a fuller appreciation of our programs and services. Our nation is currently in the midst of a major debate over the role of the federal and state governments at the same time that health care systems are undergoing a major transition. This comes at a time when the demand for services continues to increase and the private and non-for-profit sectors are both asked to take on greater responsibilities for meeting peoples needs. All of this concurrent change poses dangers for people living with HIV disease, as well as significant opportunities. Shortly, you will receive our 1996 Public Policy and Health and Treatment Agendas. Whereas the enclosed report reflects on what we have accomplished during the past year, our Agendas will outline our vision for what people living with HIV disease need in the coming year. I sincerely hope that we can continue to collaborate together to bring an end to this epidemic and to better serve people living with HIV. I also hope that we can count on your continued support to face the challenges of the year ahead. Once again, thank you for your critical support of our work during the past year. Until there's a cure, Bue William J. Freeman Executive Director 1413 K Street, N.W., Washington D.C. 20005 Phone: (202) 898-0414 FAX: (202) 898-0435
