Dear Chief of Staff Podesta:
I was highly gratified to have received a "personal"
letter from the President in June, with much appreciation
to Ms. Nancy Hernreich, Director, Oval Office Operations.
The Letter focused on comments concerning my award-winning
["EDITOR'S CHOICE"] Poem, "Conversation With The Master Of
Mount Vernon." Chief of Staff Podesta, I serve as a
Communications Consultant [MSJ / Medill / Northwestern
University]. I have four [4] proposals, for your consideration, to wit:
VOLUNTEER SPEECHWRITING
Please inform Director of the Speechwriting Office of my
availability
from afar
via the mails
to provide
"tidbits" [newsbites / caricatures, etc.], upon minimal
direction, which, in turn, can be woven into the President's
speeches by The White House Staff.
WHITE HOUSE READING OF "CONVERSATION WITH THE
MASTER OF MOUNT VERNON"
Please inform Ms. Ann Stock, White House Social Secretary
that reading of the award-winning Poem by Honorable
John Warner, Senior Senator, State of Virginia would prove
most poignant on or about February 22, 1999, anniversary
of Washington's birthday.
NEH'S MILLENIUM MINUTES PROJECT
Please inform NEH's Director of Communications Policy,
Gary Krull that my award-winning Poem, or, in the interest
of brevity, portion thereof, be available for NEH's series
of nationally-televised Public Service Announcements that
are to highlight a truly American hero, for all times:
President George Washington.
