being based upon the rather hazy
notes of Luke Fox, made in 1631.
Cape Moved South.
Fox Land forms the southwestern
portion of Baffin Island, and Cape
Dorchester is its northwest tip, lit-
erally a "corner." To there the coast
runs about due north, and then turns
sharply to the east. On the chart
Cape Dorchester is placed at latitude
66 degrees, 25 minutes, north. Ac-
tually Dorchester lies in latitude 65
degrees, 27 minutes. We have moved
it south some sixty miles.
The chart shows the shore line
reaching northeasterly from the
cape. Actually the coast swings
