THEODORE ROOSEVELT.
ASSISTANT SECRETARY.
NAVY DEPARTMENT,
WASHINGTON.
January 18, 1898.
My dear Mr.Peary:
That's first rate. I shall give the en-
dorsement exactly along the lines you indicate.
I shall try to get an endorsement from the
President. He is, however, very much bothered
by the Cuban situation, as we all are and I
may have some difficulty in seeing him. Still,
I think I shall succeed. I shall also try to
get a chance to write the article you suggest,
through some magazine or paper.
Continue to let me know any point where
you think I can be of use to you.
Very sincerely yours,
Theodore Roosway
