Pole to Panama
1. With the Stars and Stripes in the far, far North,
Where the icy breezes blow,
And away down South of the Carib Sea,
Where the Gatun waters flow;
There is land enough in this vast expanse
For our nation yet to be,
With a wealth that rivals the wealth of Ind.,
And a people glad and free.
CHORUS.
So we need no lands in the Orient,
Across the seas afar,
But we'll rule the American Continent
From the Pole to Panama.
2. In our hearts the wisdom of many lands,
In our hands their strength and skill,
And we build a structure that shall endure,
'Till the very stars stand still;
For our Fathers laid, in their sweat and blood,
A foundation broad and sure,
Where shall rise, with ever increasing might,
Our own country grand and pure.
Mary Bisbee Enquist.
