CONCLUSION
ALTHOUGH built in wartime, the Inyokern Naval Ordnance Test Station is intended
to be a permanent Naval establishment. The work of the Research and Develop-
ment Department is now being carried on by a group of Naval and Civil Service
scientists and engineers who will form the nucleus of a permanent organization.
In addition to the ranges and facilities now in use, it is contemplated that the
facilities will eventually include laboratories, machine shops and technical schools.
The village area will be a complete modern community and will include stores
and recreational facilities, as well as a grade school and high school for children
of staff members.
