makes the following statements
Hany Root ( alias Big Harry while in gail as
Lumpkin Sterwand lo, Ga was handinffed, the hand
cuffo united by a round strip of now about 15 in
ches long, on which the handwuffs could be slipped
backwards a forwards and fastened to the floor by
a chain about 20 inches long estending from one
of the handinff
The treatment of the pris oner was intended to
be that, which is nonally given to prisoner of that
character. a mug was kept sufficiently near him
to allow him to use it in after dung to the calls of
nature.
He and other prisoners implained to me of not
being well fed and I ordered the failor to give them
their full allowanie and keep the fail cleaner and
as he, John yarborough, did not do is Iremoved
him and employed an other man in his plate,
who made several efforts by scalding and seening
to keep it clean and destroy the innumerable litter which
had taken posetion of it and of which the pris oner
brought a large number on his body with him
from the Maton fail.
She prosoner hadar comfortable Bedding as is usual
in any prison, had two plankets and never made
any other complaints to me then not being refficient
by fed and being Aroubled by line
