the last two days, that Thad not time to Seud you astatement
of facts M the Case of John Winston Pain 6:4 10th Req

Barly in the year 1873 Messr Chipman Hosmer Mo-
(Mow Situare 16% of Washington City D. sent to this office, the
names of Several hundred Soldier who had previously made Claims
through other agents, but which were Mever Settled; with the
Request that every effort should he used to discover then whereabouts.-
M the list of these Mames appeared the Name 1 "Ithu Winston
Phis 6:4 10th Reg alist of the names
of the different Soldier was printed, principally at my own es-
penso, and extensively posted throughout the City of Mew otleans
and Carroltton, and a number Sent to Various parks of the Country
for distribution
In the Month august 1873- John Winston asabove Called
upon Me, and stated that hewas the person who Served asa
Provate in 10th C Heavy artittery, and that there was Bounty
due to hun which he never Received Iessamined hum will,
and so far as Ican Remember he gave me the Mames of his officer;
and on Referring to the army list, Ifound his Statement to he
Correct.- He afterwair Called with whose
