A. Lincoln
President U.S.
Genl Steele has
just sent me a telegram from the
War Department which states that
the Arkansas men twenty seven (2y)
in number who were enlisted for
2nd Artillery must be sent at once
to their regiment in St Louis Mo
d most survertly by you to inter
for in this matter for the protection
of these patriots who were shame.
fully imposed upon by false rep:
resentations that they were inlisting
in an arhansas organization
bapt Fergeson who enlisted them
says that they were told that it was
for an Arhansas The
printed posters so say The men
have families here entirely dependent.
