nested with the placing, or assignment of eclored medical officers in
southora and Howover, in view or the fost that
thousands of colored Graftees are in Service and Enginoor Battalions,
etc., - maday of whom are alroady in France, and many of whom will soon
be ovor thero, the folloving suggustion mity offor a way out, mamely:
After thoso Golored medical mon have bom trained and commissioned in
the Reservo Gorps, they could be asnigned for duty with colored
troopa which are now, or may horsafter be sent sbrond. As a matter of
feet, and based upon actual exporience acvoring a long period of yeazo
in the Southland, I can any that the frimdliest and most cordial rola-
tions exist betwoon tha whito people md the acores of compotent colozod
physicims and surgeons now practising in the South, and reports havo
beon received concorning the genorous treatment accorded colorod officers
at and contomments where thejrhave been assigned to duty.

eager to sexve mon of their oum 2800, colorod soldiers as a rile profez
